Jump to: Index | Shell | Configuring An External Domain This article discusses how to configure your shell account to accept requests for an external domain, like http://www.example.com. You will then be able to access your webspace (http://username.labyrinthdata.net.au) from the external domain. First, you will need to inform your domain registrar that we will be responding to requests for your domain. To do this you need to tell them that the nameservers you would like to be associated with your domain are ours, namely: ns1.labyrinthdata.net.au ns2.labyrinthdata.net.au This is typically done through their web-based domain configuration interface. Once you have done this, login to the Members Interface. You should see something similar to this:
Click on the blue 'Domains' link, and enter your domain name without the http://www. part into the 'Add a domain' box. For example, if you have registered the domain: http://www.example.com you would enter: example.com into the 'Add a domain' box. Once you have done that, click 'Create'. You should see some text confirming that your domain has been configured. You should be able to access your webspace by entering your domain into your web browser. If you can't, try waiting for 24 hours or so as it sometimes takes time for the global DNS network to register the change. If it's still not working after that time, contact support and we'll look into it. |
