Jump to: Index | Subversion | Creating Subversion Users This article discusses how to add an additional user to an existing Subversion repository you have created. Subversion is a method of storing files and their histories, similar to the popular program CVS, but incorporating several improvements. We provide unlimited Subversion repositories with all our shell accounts - for details on how to create a new Subversion repository see Creating Subversion Repositories. Login to the Management Interface with your normal shell username and password. You should be presented with a screen similar to the one below.
Click on the blue 'Subversion Repositories' text. A list of the Subversion repositories currently associated with your account is displayed. Determine the repository you would like to create a user on, and click the blue 'Add/Remove Users' text next to that database. You should see a screen similar to the one below.
Choose a name for the new user and enter in into the box circled above. Click 'Create'. You will be prompted for a password for the new user - enter a password and click 'Continue'. The user will then be added to the repository with read and write permissions. You should be able to login using the new username and password - for details see Connecting To Subversion. If you would like to only permit the user read-only access to the repository, see Adjusting Subversion User Permissions. Note that it may take several minutes for the username and password to begin working as our servers synchronise. Jump to: Index | Subversion | Creating Subversion Users |
